Hugh Haggerty

Hugh Haggerty is a 1955 graduate of Richford High School where he played baseball for 3years and was the Future Farmers of America Treasurer and the Class Valedictorian. Hugh went onto Johnson State College and earned is B.S. in Education then his Master of Arts at the University of Connecticut. While at Johnson State College Hugh played baseball for 3 years and was a member of the yearbook staff with the sports section. Hugh moved to Bellows Falls in 1978 with his wife Betty and became the school districts Superintendent for the next 21 years. Hugh held high integrity and respect in our school district for all these years. Hugh and Betty have 2 kids and 4 grandkids.

If running and entire school system wasn’t enough Hugh gave back to our community in his spare time. He coached Girls High School Soccer from 1999-2004, umpired for the Bellows Falls Junior League for 6 years, gave ski lessons to locals for 5 years. From 2011-2019 he is the president of the Bellows Falls Cribbage Teams and the President of the Bellows Falls Senior Center. He was a member of the Windham County Retired Senior Volunteer Program for 5 years. Hugh has been highly involved in the Rotary club for 50 years, from 1968-2018. He was the Club President in Morrisville in 1974 and again in Bellows Falls in 2000. In 2005-2006 he was the Governor of the Rotary District 7870.

When talking about the Terrier Family it hard not to mention Hugh as he guided the school district to a high level for so many years. He still give back to this community to this day.
