Heather Waryas

Heather Harty Waryas graduated from BFUHS in 1993, as a member of NHS, class secretary, band member, and star athlete in field hockey where she was a member of a co-state champion team, basketball where she was on a state runner up team, and softball. After graduation in 1993, she was voted alumni queen and was a recipient of an alumni scholarship which started her love for the alumni association. Heather worked her way through the seats of the alumni association twice, where she was alumni president in 1998 and 2017. She is a very active past president, fields calls or emails weekly, and collects for the past presidents in the parade every year.

Heather has coached many years for the youth of our community. As a volunteer, she coached baseball and basketball for the rec dept for numerous years, coached basketball at the middle school, and when they had no one else to do it, she coached middle school soccer even though she had limited experience with the game. At the high school, she coached JV softball and JV field hockey. There was also a year when the high school had no one to coach tennis, and Heather stepped up and coached so they could have a team. In recent years she has officiated for middle school field hockey. Most recently she has been a timer at track meets.

In 1998 Heather started her career as an employee of the wnesu. She has worn many hats from para, to health teacher, to her current job as a student assistance professional. In the early 2000’s Heather took a hiatus from the school system to raise her children.

As an outstanding member of our community, Heather served as a justice of the peace and the board of civil authority for many years and was on the board at Parks Place for many also. She also volunteered on a restorative justice board for a couple of years. She truly bleeds purple!
