All About Me...
Hi! My name is Kathryn West, and I'm so excited to be your 5th grade teacher this year! This will be my 14th year teaching, and my 4th year at Joyner. I've taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades.
I grew up in Carrboro, NC (just outside Chapel Hill- GO HEELS!). I moved to the mountains of North Carolina to attend college at Western Carolina University, where I majored in Elementary Education.
I've been married to my husband, Luke, for 11 years. We have 2 daughters, Carolina- age 8, and Gabby- age 4.5 and a cat named Riley.
I'm an Enneagram type 6w5. I am always thinking a few steps ahead to ensure that things run smoothly, I'm very logical, and I'm very curious- always looking for an answer to a question!
When I was in 5th grade, I loved to explore the woods around my neighborhood, ride my bike, create skits or songs with my friends, and make friendship bracelets.

Now I like to spend time playing with my family, reading, camping, traveling, and hanging out at the river. I also enjoy doing puzzles. I'd really like to get into kayaking and paddleboarding.
