The Blazing Stars Special Olympics team provides sports training, athletic competition, physical activity, and social connections for athletes with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Many Blazing Stars team members live in South Washington County, however, all Special Olympic athletes are welcome. Sports and activities are offered throughout the year. We are affiliated with Special Olympics Minnesota, Area 13.
We are a volunteer organization. Learn about becoming a volunteer coach or member of our Local Sports Management Team (LSMT).
The Woodbury Blazing Stars team is part of Area 13 of Special Olympics Minnesota.
Coaches and Volunteers are expected to follow the Special Olympics MN Coaches Code of Conduct, Volunteer Code of Conduct and Protective Behaviors, Coaches are not able to provide transportation for athletes.
Athletes are expected to adhere to the Special Olympics MN Athlete Code of Conduct.
Parents/Staff are expected to transport their athlete, be present at practices/tournaments and support the Special Olympics Minnesota Codes of Conduct.
Social Activities
Social activities planned with athletes outside of practices/tournaments must be held in a public place and all team members should be invited.
Two or more unrelated Volunteers must be present at any activity planned outside of practices/tournaments.
Athletes must arrange their own transportation. Volunteers are not able to transport.
