Honors Calculus

Hey Guys,

Its been a loooooong day. I loaded a video that will be up shortly. It will help you with some of 2.2 and 2.3. Here are some assignments to work on:

2.2

p. 110-112 4-42 all (some of this was already assigned, don't do it twice)

p. 110-112 71-73

2.3

p. 121-122 1-42, 51-54, 73-82

Sheet on vertical motion

Sheet on 2.3 Product and Quotient Rules (can't do this til after 2.4)

You will probably have to watch the video to do most of this. This is a LOT of work probably at least a week's worth so we will say due by Monday, March 23rd at 12 noon. You can email it to me at dorszulak@ware.k12.ma.us. Do your best. Talk it over with a friend. Let's make the best of this situation. Any quizzes and tests will happen when we get back. I will provide a link to the video below.

If this actually works could someone message me....please??

3.17

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all, yeah even you Nicole....Sorry for the poor copy of the vertical motion sheet. I will work on fixing it.

Vertical Motion Sheet 2nd try

Sorry takes longer on my home computer. Chelsea is in the lead for work completion.....just sayin'....if it works could someone let me know? BE SURE to check odd answers and let me know of any that you can't figure out.

Don't sweat the due dates. Finish when you can. I'm impressed with how much some of you have done, especially for the poor kids who have to deal with me twice.

I am not permitted to teach you any new material. We will likely apply our knowledge of derivatives to some enrichment activities. I will NOT let you leave Ware High without a college level Calculus class if you're willing to put the time in. I have a plan to make sure you get all the info and instruction that my students would in any other year. It's "doable" (is that a word??) and I think it could be fun. I'll share that next time we meet. Keep working and let me know what questions you have and if there's any way I can help you.

3.20

Please list the assignments you are sending in each email. It makes things much easier on my end when I am reading them.

Hey Guys,

I've had a few questions through email asking me if I thought you should do the Calc work since it is ungraded. I remain totally committed to giving you a legit Calc course. I don't want any of you moving on and struggling with Calc in college cause of a stupid virus. I have a plan for when we get back, to get those caught up who want to be. Doing the work I assign will make that infinitely easier. That choice is really up to you guys. I am willing to put it all together and work throughout the summer if need be but I can't make you do the work. It's kind of a weird spot to be in to be honest. The only thing I can promise you is that if you are willing to put the work in, I won't rest until I get you where you need to be. For anyone who will need Calculus in college I STRONGLY suggest you do the work because your life will be much easier later, without a shadow of a doubt. Growing up is all about making decisions and living with the consequences. Life is tough in the big city....You know what I hope you choose.

Be safe!!

It's 3/24 or the day Tom Terrific broke Sully's heart and spoke as a member of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Below you will see an attachment that will ask you to find the first and second derivatives for a number of functions. Find the first derivative using the short cut method (if you can) otherwise you will have to use the Quotient Rule. Then find the derivative of the derivative, that is the second derivative. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THESE IN A FOLDER. It will make things easier for what we do in the future. Any questions send me an email dorszulak@ware.k12.ma.us.

Finally some good (great) news to report. Sully got in to Bentley, which is not only the name of one of my dogs, but a really good business school. He has been accepted at his top 3 choices, Bentley, UMass and Bryant. He is going to see who gives him the most $$$$ before deciding. Congratulations Sully!! I have heard someone else got into a prestigious school but I am awaiting confirmation and permission to post. If anyone else has news they'd like me to post send it in an email.

More great news. Dina got into Boston University!!!! It's a very hard school to get in to, we've had some great candidates not make the cut over the years, yay!!!!! Dina....oh and she also got in to Cornell University, yep an IVY League school. And my sources tell me she wasn't the only one in the graduating class to be accepted by an Ivy but she's the only one who gave me permission to post it. Well deserved Dina!!!

Hey guys. The work keeps coming in. I am going to hold up until I hear more info from Mr. Rich on how we should proceed since we just got pushed out to May 4th. Keep the work coming!

Happy April Fools Day!! So Unfortunately the time has come. Just when I have this figured out they want us to shift all of our classes to Microsoft Teams. You can get there by going to teams.microsoft.com. You sign in just as you would sign in with your password at school. I will leave this site active so you can still access the material here especially for those who are a little behind. I am hoping it will be a smooth transition. If you have ANY issues please let me know and we will work it out. When you get there I will update you with messages in posts. I believe any videos will be under files. I downloaded one last week and it works, it just takes longer. I am hoping that site has plenty of storage. You are now accountable for all work that will be assigned. Failure to do it will affect your grade. I expect to see more information on that soon. Any questions email me at dorszulak@ware.k12.ma.us. Be safe!!
