Hey Guys,

Still working on things......try to have it up soon.

Mr. O

3.16

We will be alternating between my website (dorszulak.wixsite.com/mysite-2) which has the notes and some optional videos and the google site which will have the videos of my lessons (hopefully). I will also post my assignments and due dates here. To turn in an assignment, take a picture and send it through email.

Assignment for 9.2

All CYUs

41, 43, 45, 47, 49, 51, 53, 55, 57-60 all

Due date.....I don't know yet....Probably Friday. Mock has been postponed as has the quiz on 9.1. Save all hard copies too....

3.17

Happy St. Patty's Day!! Starting to get work in Johnny and Sully are in the lead...neck and neck only separated by 4 minutes....BE SURE to check odd answers and let me know of any that you can't figure out.

3.18

Nice job on getting assignments in. I am going to work on another video for later today. Got an email that said we could learn more about the national exam on Friday. College Board is meeting over the next few days. My sympathies to all of the Tom Brady lovers out there, hope you aren't as depressed as Sully. You guys had a great run, appreciate it and wish the guy luck.

3.19

Sorry for the delay. Things are changing so quickly. We have been getting a lot of emails with directions on what to do. I have been getting emails from the Statistics content leader (state level, Mass Insight) as well as from the local level, Mr. Rich. No one knows when things will get back to normal (or should we say Normal since it's stats :)). I am VERY appreciative that Mr. Rich has given the AP teachers (only) the OK to continue with new material. Many of you have asked for this in your emails, your wishes have been granted. I will update the site later with more assignments. I am working on a video for 9.3 that should be up later today. Many of you have questions on interpreting (misspelled in the video) p-values so I put a short video together to help you understand. Talk to you soon. Be safe!!

3.19

The video should load shortly. Again, I can't grade you on the material but I will do everything humanly possible to help you get the info that is in an AP Statistics course and put you in position to pass the national exam. So many of you have worked so hard all year to get where you are and if you're willing to work, we can get to the finish line together. The assignment that should follow the 9.3 video part 1 is as follows: CYUs on p. 570, 577 as well as 71, 73, 75, 77. There is no real deadline, finish at your convenience. Any questions email me at dorszulak@ware.k12.ma.us.

Be safe!

HUGE news!!!!! College Board has limited the number of units. We won't have to cover chapters 11 and 12 which is HUGE for us. We were going to have a hard time getting to it. And the exams will be taken at home. More info will become available on this and you can go to AP Central to read more about it. I will try to download the press release and post on this site. Keep working, it IS going to pay off.

Free AP Review Classes

Beginning on Wednesday, March 25, you can attend free, live AP review courses, delivered by AP teachers from across the country. These courses:

  • Are optional, mobile-friendly, and can be used alongside any work your teacher may give you.

  • Will be available on-demand, so you can access them any time.

  • Will focus on reviewing the skills and concepts from the first 75% of the course. There will also be some supplementary lessons covering the final 25% of the course.

3.20

I think this situation will be a huge advantage for you over students from other years. Many other schools have more class time than we do so they are already done with chapter 10 or are close to it. We then had to cram in chapters 11 and 12. This should help level the playing field for us. I will have videos up for the rest of chapter 9 and chapter 10 by early next week and then we can start reviewing. We NEVER have been able to review until the last week in April or early May so it should be easier for us. We also have the above free review classes which will also help. Guys, we got this, we SO got this.

3.20

Some of you have been great about asking questions on the ones you don't get. PLEASE check your answers and let me know if you're having problems otherwise I won't know until it's too late. Also, when you send your work let me know if the videos help.

3.20

Please list the assignments you are sending in each email. It makes things much easier on my end when I am reading them.

3.22

Sooooooo, I'm hearing that the test will be only 45 minutes long and it will only consist of free response questions. So I guess that means three questions but they will probably have a few parts to them to cover topics in the course. As I hear more I will pass it along to you. I have a good review activity called the Super Six that you will see in a week or two that will help us get ready for that type of exam. I am working on a video to finish up 9.3 today and will then get the 10.1 and 10.2 videos done and believe it or not, that will be it for new material. We already touched on 10.1 and 10.2 in chapter 7.....not hard stuff. Be safe!!

3.22

Below you will find the link to the 2nd half (only 5 minutes or so) of 9.3. The assignment for that part of 9.3 is:

89, 94-97, 99-103 No CYUs!!! Only one chapter left!

video for last part of 9.3

3.22

This is the first part of 10.1. The assignment that goes with that is: 11,13 and CYU on p. 611. Remember to copy the notes from my website..... NO due date, pump the brakes.

3.23

I am going to try to film the second part of 10.1. DON'T FEEL THE NEED TO RUSH AND DO IT....do it at your leisure. I am hoping that you all will be done with 10.1 and 10.2 by April 1st and then we can start to review. So no rush. Some of you are so good I post it and an hour later you finish it. That's great but don't feel you have to. I want to finish chapter 10 (myself) so I can really work on getting you a GREAT review so you can nail this test. I am going to start off the videos with a little entrance music. If you can identify it send it in your emails......

3.23

So the free AP Review begins tomorrow at 2-2:45 on the AP YouTube channel BUT it's on Chi Square which isn't on our test so I'd say just skip it. If you don't catch any of these live they will also be on demand, on the AP YouTube channel. You guys are much better at finding that than me.

10.1 part 2

Assignment: CYU 619 15, 17, 21, 23, 29-32

3.25

So I finally have an answer as to why the College Board is providing work on Chi Square (and soon to be chapter 12 stuff) on the AP YouTube channel. They want students to have access to the entire course even if it's NOT GOING TO BE ON THE TEST. The review for units 1-7 (which for us in chapters 1-10) will begin on April 6th. I am going to try and film the first part of 10.2 today and if I'm successful it will be on this site later. We may be moving to Microsoft Teams (not my choice, I just bought more storage here) soon and if we do I will post details on how that will work. Be safe!! Working on some new intro music and Aiden will be providing the background music for the video. Send me your requests for background music in your emails...

3.25

10.2 part 1 Confidence intervals for Means

Assignment: CYU p. 638, 39, 43, 45

3.26

Finally some good (great) news to report. Sully got in to Bentley, which is not only the name of one of my dogs, but a really good business school. He has been accepted at his top 3 choices, Bentley, UMass and Bryant. He is going to see who gives him the most $$$$ before deciding. Congratulations Sully!! If anyone else has news they'd like me to post send it in an email.

3.27

Happy Friday, although I bet a lot of you don't even know what day it is....I am going to film (and hopefully post) the LAST BIT OF NEW MATERIAL NEEDED FOR THE TEST. (And yes it will feature a new intro and it will be another Stats After Dark.) Don't feel you have to run out and do it tonight. This will help me with my goal of starting review material on April 1st, WAY earlier than any other year. So proud of those who have accepted the challenge and continue to build your knowledge and put yourself in position to nail the test.

3.29

Hey Guys,

I hope you and your family are safe and well. I also hope you are enjoying the unexpected family time. Some info about the mock exam...we are still going to take it. It will be Free Response questions only and I expect their feedback, (they are correcting, not me) will be VERY, VERY helpful since the exam is only FRQs. Here is some info and once it is all explained I will send it to you. What may be most important about doing this mock is how you get your answers downloaded because if we aren't back in school you will be taking it at home and will probably have to follow a similar process....

Here goes...

  • We will create an online link where students can access the FRQ QUESTIONS for their EXAM (no paper copies needed).

    • Students would write their answers on their own paper (any paper will do as long as their answers are legible)

    • Students would also WRITE a unique ID number, provided by their teacher, on the top of each page.

      • We will provide each teacher with a link to a file that contains these unique numbers (the number that is currently on each of their answer packets)

    • When completed students would:

      • Take a CLEAR photo of all of the pages on which they wrote answers

      • Name the file in a specific way we outline

      • Either email/upload those back to their teacher or to an Applied Practice account (we are currently exploring options for this)

Hey Guys,

Some updates......I found out today the test is going to be open book and open notes. Amidst your celebration, I tell you the news isn't what you think it is. When people see this they think, now I won't have to study since I can use my notes. Students who think this way will 100% not have enough time to finish the exam. There is just no way. Many of you have a hard time with the time constraints we used this year, can you imagine if you were trying to look things up?? Ask some seniors in Calculus if they think it is going to give you the advantage you think it is.

I am hearing the free online courses should be starting to go over material that will be on the actual exam anytime now, maybe as early as today. You can go to YouTube and type in AP Online Classes and Review Sessions. I have opened some assessments on the College Board site. PLEASE DO NOT TYPE GRAPHS IN TO WORD AND UPLOAD. That is WAAAAAY to much work and since it won't be helpful for the test, don't bother. What I would like is if someone could try to write an answer out and upload it. It MAY ( or MAY NOT) be the way college board wants you to submit your answers. They may let us know that on Friday, it's unclear to this point. The first person who is able to write their answers on paper, take a pic and download it will get extra bonus points as well as a prize next time we meet. Otherwise enter the info you can and take a pic and send to me and I will score it as I have in the past.

For what it's worth, many of you are certainly earning big respect points for completing these assignments and turning them in on a regular basis. It's an example of doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Well, I'm watching and very impressed and it goes a loooooong way with me. I won't forget it and will certainly help me write glowing letters of recommendation letters for college or for scholarships. Those things can help separate you from other candidates. Keep it up!! If I can help you in any way, please let me know.....

Happy April Fools Day!! So Unfortunately the time has come. Just when I have this figured out they want us to shift all of our classes to Microsoft Teams. You can get there by going to teams.microsoft.com. You sign in just as you would sign in with your password at school. I will leave this site active so you can still access the material here especially for those who are a little behind. I am hoping it will be a smooth transition. If you have ANY issues please let me know and we will work it out. When you get there I will update you with messages in posts. I believe any videos will be under files. I downloaded one last week and it works, it just takes longer. I am hoping that site has plenty of storage. You are now accountable for all work that will be assigned. Failure to do it will affect your grade. I expect to see more information on that soon. Any questions email me at dorszulak@ware.k12.ma.us. Be safe!!
