Nice Arrival coverage by this month's HO'OKELE, with a USS VERMONT family on the cover and a couple other now famous family shots included.  It's worth a look!  Click below

The USS VERMONT joined Squadron 1 on July 27th. The Arrival celebration began with the placement of a 30+ foot long lei on Big Sugar in the harbor, arrival at the pier to Hula Dancers, the sailors disembarking through a flowered arch to receive their leis compliments of the VSG, reunions with their families, and enjoying a BBQ with Squadron 1 cooking and Vermont condiments. The NEX also provided welcome bags for our namesake sailors, and Squadron 1 Commodore Peterson and CMC Amato joined other Squadron 1 Command personnel to begin building the rapport between the Pearl Harbor submariners.  Click below for a link to more images, with more to come.  Check back soon!

Could be the final lock before Gatun Lake in the upper left.  With a security escort in lower left and cargo ships in the background. Topside party? Big Sugar crew members enjoying some fresh air in the image on the right. In any case, our namesake boat is in the Pacific Ocean and heading west.  Go Big Sugar!

Submariner's Ball, April 9, 2022 at Foxwoods Casino.  No surprise that the award for the best centerpiece was won by the USS VERMONT SSN 792 team, just one more honor among the many the USS VERMONT sailors continue to bring home.  Big Sugar embraced by Champ and powered by a gallon of Brattleboro's Brown Family Farm maple syrup covers all the bases as our USS VERMONT MWR team continues to show pride in representing their namesake state.  We couldn't be more proud of them for doing so. CDR Phillips with the centerpiece below.

Burton Snowboard on board!  The Crew found a spot for the donated board with the Vermont Resolution honoring Jake nearby.  Love that SSN 792 license plate as well!

Celebrating the successful simulation victories from the recent Submarine Commanders Course hosted by the USS VERMONT SSN 792.  The boat's Culinary Specialists performance proved every bit as exceptional as their shipmates!

More than just an amazing picture, compliments of Devon Phillips, this image of the Officers of the USS VERMONT SSN 792 topside at the U.S. Naval Station Rota Spain includes a few additional submariners.  The VERMONT leads the way for the Block IV Virginia Class boats with our first underway including two female junior officers (3rd and 9th from the left if you zoom in).  The USS VERMONT had some down time at NAVSTA Rota after a successful tasking as the rabbit in the Anti-Submarine-Warfare (ASW) exercise Black Toro conducted in the North Atlantic.  You can read more about that exercise at our "In the News" page.  The VERMONT has since departed Rota for points unknown but you can be sure whatever's next will continue to make her namesake state proud!

Ths Sub in a Jug now resides in the locked display case on board the USS VERMONT SSN 792 beside the BB-20 Maple Syrup Jug.

Portrait of the USS VERMONT SSN 792, painted by Woodstock artist Neil Drevitson,  resides on the wall of the Ward Room.

At the top of the coffee mug board created by the USS VERMONT's ENS Jack Dyment, our replica carved by Calais sculptor Chris Miller is mounted in a place of honor between the Commanding Officer's and XO's mug.

One more view of Vermont memorabilia in the Ward Room, also courtesy of ENS Dyment, which includes traditional snowshoes and a cross country ski.

The Maple Syrup jug, a piece of the Silver Service presented to the second USS VERMONT (the battleship BB-20) in 1903 now resides in a locked display case on board the USS VERMONT SSN 792.

A gift to the boat from the Super Troopers cast resides in a display case on board.  The cast was last in Burlington promoting Super Troopers 2 in 2018, and has several connections to Vermont.

A view of the crew's mess, AKA the "Catamount Tavern."  We're working with them to bring Vermont images to the cabinets you see to give our honorary Vermonters  a better sense of what their namesake state is all about, and who they're representing.

We just received these images of the VCC's donated plaques honoring the USS VERMONT (SSN 792) Plank Owners and PCU VERMONT Honorary Plank Owners.

Mounted permanently at the base of the primary boarding ladder, the plaques honor both the crew assigned to the boat when it was Commissioned, as well as those who served with the PCU VERMONT to prepare her for active duty on April 18th, 2020 .

Above is a picture of the gift exchange in the USS VERMONT (SSN 792) Ward Room during our sub's exchange with the Brazilian Navy.  Commanding Officer CDR Charles W. Phillips III presented a USS VERMONT ball cap, Morse Farm Maple Syrup, a CO's Challenge Coin, a plaque, and a framed photo of the USS VERMONT with his signature to Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro.  Watching over the presentation is Vice Admiral Daryl Caudle, Commander, U.S. Submarine Forces.  Note at the head of the table obscured by CDR Phillips, is the VCC's portrait of the USS VERMONT done by Woodstock artist Neil Drevitson.

A photo of the amazing table created by 1893 Woodworking in Groton CT installed in the USS VERMONT Chief’s Quarters.  The table was built from oak blocks the boat was originally built on.  The photo was taken with the boat's new digital camera, with more pictures to come of the Ward Room with it's uniquely Vermont accessories, and other gifts to the boat in their new locations aboard SSN 792.
IT'S REPLACEMENT MADE FROM VERMONT HARD MAPLE WILL BE COMPLETED IN 2022!

One proud USS VERMONT (SSN 792) sailor's wall displaying our gifts of a VERMONT STRONG license plate, Plank Owner plaque and story, the ship's portrait, and a variety of coins.

USS VERMONT shared this picture of an early evening surface transit

Top left video (3:06) presents a day on a Los Angeles class boat, the USS Oklahoma City (SSN 723).  Top right video (8:54) is a virtual tour of Virginia Class USS New Mexico (SSN 779) and the video (1:23) on the right is an informational segment on the USS Minnesota (SSN 783). These videos provide a glimpse into the environment our USS VERMONT (SSN 792) sailors inhabit when they're on board, particularly the two of Virginia class boats.  Thanks to LT Mack Jamieson, PAO, Submarine Group 9 for sharing them.

Although unofficial, and not vetted by our military, the links above to wikipedia and to defensetalks.site provide a fairly comprehensive representation of the background, construction, operating characteristics, sensors, weapons and positioning of the Virginia Class Submarines vs. our adversaries.  As the first of the Block IV boats, the USS VERMONT is at the head of it's class in capabilities that will be used to protect our nation in ways we'll never know.
