Melodic Minor Scales

The Melodic Minor scale has the third lowered by a half step- making it a minor scale. It is the only note that's lowered when the scale ascends (goes up)- however, when the scale descends (goes down) the seventh and sixth notes are also lowered by a half step each! It's as if the sixth and seventh notes are pulled up by the force of the top note when they go up and are pulled down by the fifth note when they go down.
