The Thought Experiment

Speedos

For each tutorial i displayed a background in Teams of the same shot on the banner of this page, a pile of human organs (models) that i photographed at the med school, i thought it would set the scene rather well.

I explained that during my Pecha Kucha i intend to carry out an autopsy on a painting destroying and deconstructing human anatomy. 'Making yourself a body without organs' after Deleuze by 'visualising a pile of human organs' after Droit. Invoking the four homours by taking steps backwards in order to choose another path to proceed as a strategy and produce 2 paintings transplanting organs from one to the other.

I managed four speed tutorials, the time really did fly!

Craig Wood: i decided to start with Craig, my pathway tutor, he seemed to think that i was on point, that i could go off on tangents and the presentation could be all words or no words. The more adventurous the better, be bold there is no right or wrong.

Martin Bush: Again Marty thought that i was on the money, he did ask if i would be in character, which i will and he suggested that this could be the worst operating theater in the world. He also asked if i would be going for laughs or shock, i thought that a bit of both would be most appropriate. Listening in to another pitch Martin advised the student to 'finish big', i like that, i will try it.

Hamish Gane: Hamish was also very positive and asked if i planned a narration, i mentioned my poem and he advised that i watch an autopsy to gather the language used and perhaps adapt that to the situation.

Robert Jones: Rob brought up 'emergence', a theme that we had previously discussed in relation to human nature and that this could be implied during the autopsy in the sense of the' whole being greater than the sum of the parts'...
