In the case of Hirst’s work that uses the theme ‘Butterfly,’ it dramatically increases the artistic tension of the audience with an intensive composition that is close to being ‘obsessive’ through a combination of wild colors and a mathematically repeating structure that reminds us of stained glass that can be seen in Gothic Cathedral buildings. Moreover, the fact that it was made by using real butterflies would have added more tension and drama to his work. Another piece of work that was created by using real flies can also be a nice example. In this case, most of the audience is likely to be overwhelmed by the countless number of dead flies piled up into a single location. Hirst’s work <A Thousand Years> (1990) even shows how Hirst actually ‘raises’ (or, in other words, ‘produces’) the flies so he could use them for his own work, which can be associated with intensive animal farming.

Il lavoro di Hirst che utilizza il tema ‘Farfalla’, aumenta drammaticamente la tensione artistica del pubblico con una composizione intensiva che si avvicina all’essere ‘ossessiva’ grazie alla combinazione di colori selvaggi e strutture matematicamente ripetitive, che ci ricordano le vetrate delle Cattedrali Gotiche. Inoltre, il fatto che sia stato creato utilizzando farfalle reali ha aggiunto tensione e drammaticità al suo lavoro. Anche un altro lavoro creato utilizzando mosche reali può essere un bell’esempio. In questo caso, la maggior parte del pubblico viene sopraffatto dal numero infinito di mosche morte depositate nello stesso spazio. Il lavoro di Hirst <A Thousand Years> (1990) mostra anche come Hirst ‘alleva’ (o ‘produce) le mosche per poi utilizzarle per il suo lavoro, associabile all’allevamento intensivo degli animali.
