Swansong
The Origins

Where it all began...

Swansong Tour 2019
(L to R; Kinnon Clarke, Fraser Symborski-Welsh, Jack Reid, Briony Scholes, Ryan Thow.)

Swansong was initiated by the BA (Hons) Drama and Performance graduating class of 2019.

On preparing for their summer tour showcasing their work around the Highlands - a first for UHI Drama - the students were tasked with naming the tour.

As you can imagine, many a name was suggested, but none were able to capture the personalities of the cohort and the work they had created.

As a well bonded group of students, they worked hard, embraced the ups and downs of the creation process, and supported each other through it all. You'd regularly catch them together feeding the swans on Inverness Campus, the home of Inverness College UHI.

Paying homage to those swans that got them through combined with the looming finality of their degree, Swansong was born.

Working with this soon to be graduate class of 2021, so many similarities are seen in their work ethic, the support they have for each other and their resilience despite everything that has been thrown their way.

It is fitting that the Swansong legacy lives on with them.
