About Us
We participate each year in designing and fabricating a 1:10 scale steel bridge to compete in the annual AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition. During the Fall semester the team designs in an FEA software the bridge sections and geometry and tests the different alternatives. Once the optimized steel sections and sizes are chosen, the team switches over to the connection design and fabrication phase. This usually starts late Fall around winter break or earlier. During fabrication, the team cuts, welds, mills, and grinds steel together into the designed pieces. The annual competition is hosted by one of the nearby universities in the region and has a history of being held around April of each year.
