History of the Unit

Raising of the Unit

Initially unit was raised at Saugor as 13 M P Signal Section NCC, Saugor (M.P.) in January, 1956 and Captain M . L. Bawa was the first Officer Commanding (OC) of the unit. Since it's raising unit is located at Saugor (M.P.).

Up-gradation and Re-designation

In January, 1963 the initially raised (13 M P Signal Section NCC) unit was upgraded to Signal Company. It was designated to be 13 M P Signal Company NCC, Saugor and the male cadets (Senior Division) of Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar formed the nucleus of this Company. Subsequently, in June, 1964 the unit was further re-designated as 3 M P Signal Company NCC under the Saugor Group of Madhya Pradresh and Chhattisgarh Directorate of National Cadet Corps. (M.P.). Since, in the year 1977 after some readjustments 09 Junior Division (JD) troops were allotted to this company, hence, 3 M P Signal Company NCC now consists of 01 Senior Division (SD) Company along with 09 Junior Division (JD) troops.

Conversion of Company into Independent Company

As per Letter No. Dte/60007/P&C/Conv/32A, dated 31 January, 2004 of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh NCC Directorate, Bhopal, the designation of 3 M P Signal Company NCC was further changed to 9 M P (Indp) Company NCC, Saugor (M.P.).

Present Designation of Unit

Further, as per letter No. Dte/60007/P&C/Conv/Corr/32A, dated 16 September, 2004 of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh NCC Directorate, Bhopal, the designation of 9 M P (Indep) Company NCC, Saugor (M.P.) was again changed to 3 M P Signal Company NCC, Saugor (M.P.).
