PROGRAM RECOGNITION COMMITTEE

The Program Recognition Committee is responsible for facilitating the awards that are annually recognized by MAEA and then forwarded to NACAA for futher competition. This includes appointing a committee member to represent MAEA for each of the following NACAA committees: Communications, Extension Programs, 4-H & Youth, Professional Excellence, Public Relations, Recognition and Awards, and Scholarship. Each subcommittee is responsible for promotion of specific awards and includes securing and receiving MAEA member entries and selection of state winners in categories as identified in the January issue of the "County Agent" magazine each year.

EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Extension Development Committee coordinates association sponsored extension improvement at the state and national level. This includes appointing an MAEA member to represent Michigan on each of the following NACAA Committees and coordinating their activities:

PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE

The Professional Improvement Committee is responsible for coordinating association sponsored professional improvement at the state and national level. The committee works with the MAEA Board to plan and conduct an annual Spring Training. This committee is to identify professional improvement opportunities available for MAEA members, develop ideas and programs for professional improvement of Association members, develop of training in specific subject areas and coordination training with the MSUE Institutes, Specialists and Work Teams. This committee also selects MAEA members to represent Michigan on each of the following NACAA Committees:

PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE

This committee facilitates and encourages Michigan Association members to participate in our National Association's Annual Professional Development Meeting. Develop and deliver to membership appropriate information for the Annual Meeting including a roster of Michigan agents attending the meeting. Attend and coordinate participation in the "State Picture" at the National Meetings. Develop a plan to foster a feeling of "espirit-de-corps" among the Michigan delegation attending the National Convention. Provide the president elect of the State Association a list of award recipients and a brief summary of their award activities to use in state publicity. This committee is responsible for developing ideas and programs for professional improvement of Association members not presently provided by Extension. Encourage members to avail themselves of professional training opportunities that are available.Coordinate Michigan's participation in any new State or National award until it is assigned to another committee
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
2023-24 Chair: Ben Phillips, North/UP Region
2023-24 Vice Chair: Mike Metzger, Southeast Region
Encourage Michigan Association members to contribute to the National Association Scholarship Fund.
Encourage Michigan Association members to apply for professional improvement scholarships available through the National Association Scholarship Fund.
Inform the State Association's president elect of any scholarship(s) received by State Association Member(s) so that appropriate publicity can be arranged within the state.
Seek and recommend the recipient of $300, the State Travel-Study Scholarship to the President for Spring Board Meeting.
Responsible for the "First Timer" scholarships for agents attending a national meeting for the first time (usually $200 depending on available funds).
