I desire to empower students of all ages with the skills to overcome their learning obstacles, achieving confidence in reading and spelling. Being trained in Foundation in Sounds and as a Barton specialist, I enjoy working with my students and families to help equip them for success in reaching their full academic potential.

Individual Attention

Private tutoring allows each student to receive the time and attention that they need in order to succeed in spelling and reading.

Tutoring sessions are 55 minutes, meet twice weekly, and are year-round

• $50 per session, paid out-of-pocket or through a Charter School Purchase Order

• Tutoring sessions are held in Placentia, CA or online

• Please contact Mrs. Mack to schedule an appointment for preliminary assessment (I do not diagnose for Dyslexia).

Curriculum

Tutoring focuses on:

• A structured language approach that helps students decode written words, spell them correctly, and write effectively

• Assisting students with reading accurately and rapidly, spelling words correctly, and building writing skills through a multisensory, explicit, systematic phonics program

• When needed, a pre-reading program that focuses on auditory discrimination, remembering what they have heard, and auditory sequencing skills

Tutoring focuses on utilizing the research based Barton Reading and Spelling System, as well as the Foundation in Sounds program. These are based on the Orton-Gillingham Method, and are focused on decoding, fluency, comprehension, grammar, and silent reading. To learn more, please visit these links:
