Introduction

'Education is a necessary tool for growth.'

This motto, although broad, is something that motivates me in becoming the most effective secondary science teacher I can be.

Growing up in a Northern Metropolitan Perth Suburb, with roots from the country, formed as a base for my love of knowledge. I was consistently questioning and learning throughout my early life. This was strengthened with my time at university (the first time) from 2013- 2016, studying Occupational Therapy. I was drawn to help and work with all kinds of people, leading me to do some extra study and volunteering in the metal health sector.

After working in Private Mental Health, I realised I loved studying Occupational Therapy, not working as one. To find personal development, I left for South Korea shortly after. This led me to teaching a trade high school, in the central provinces. Although incredible challenging, the love for teaching, educating and making a difference was fostered here. Upon my return to Australia, I gathered more life experience managing bars and farm maintenance workers. Here I developed my resilience and problem solving skills.

Studying at a Masters level from 2020 - 2021, my passion for education has shone through above all else. The theories of Social and Emotional Learning, Science Inquiry and Investigation, Equity and Inclusive Education have aligned well with my personal values. My drive for improvement is highlighted with the creation of a student led project (PLN) and becoming president of the Teaching Society. My previous life experiences have given me the perspective, skills and experience to grow into a successful young educator. I will continue to develop into an accomplished educator, to which I look forward to sharing that journey with!
