Katy was the co-manager of the twitter page (@SERCinvasions) to promote the lab's work and to raise awareness about the threat of marine invasions. She managed the page up to August 2020.
Katy also ran the project-specific blog Dvex which keeps the public and the lab's research partners informed about SERC's ongoing effort to test eradication methods on the invasive Didemnum vexillum in Sitka, AK.

citizen science
Katy designed and launched the citizen science online project Invader ID on Zooniverse with her team at SERC in 2018. It enables volunteers to identify marine invasive species online in order to monitor the spread of those invaders nationwide.
public Education
Katy has worked at many aquariums including the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, the Mote Eco-Discovery Center in Key West, and the New England Aquarium (pictured). Through each of these programs she has had the opportunity to educate visitors and give presentations on conservation, aquarium species, and environmental protection.
