Directions and Parking: The property is located on Elm Street between Main Street and Brook St. on the Jones River. Parking is on the south side of the Elm St. Bridg


  • Formation of Sampson Park and the Faunce Memorial Forest began in 1950 with the 52-acre Walter H. Faunce Memorial Grant.

  • The area expanded in the 1960’s through additional gifts and purchases.

  • Sampson Park now consists of 152.5 acres.

  • The Wildlands Trust owns properties adjacent to Sampson Park on the north and south side totaling more than 25 acres. This creates an open space corridor of about 191 acres.

  • The property runs along the Jones River and through the Furnace Brook watershed, a tributary to the Jones River.

  • Three of the vernal pools on the property are certified by the MA Division of Fisheries and Wildlife and a fourth is identified by the state as a potential vernal pool.

  • The Bay Circuit Trail runs through the property.
