Directions and Parking: Located at the end of Basler's Lane off the southern side of route 3A (Main Street) in the eastern end of town near Rocky Nook. Parking available at the cul-de-sac on Basler's Lane.
In 1970, at the urging of the Conservation Commission and the initiative of Robert Mulliken, Kingston acquired Patuxet Park for $5,375. Kingston received their first state self-help matching grant to assist in the purchase of this property.
The property consists of 23.8 acres and was formerly known as Basler’s Farm, a former dairy farm.
A portion of Foundry Pond is located on the property. The pond is a dammed portion of Smelt Brook which runs through the property, through the pond, under Route 3A and the railroad before joining the Jones River.
An unnamed tributary feeds Smelt Brook which runs through a large wetland on the property.
Open fields and woodlands are also found on the site.
The area was used as a Native American summer encampment by the Patuxet sub-tribe of the Wampanoag tribe before European settlers arrived.
