Ichimadin

Formed in 2010, Ichimadin Okinawa Band is based in Melbourne, Australia and currently consists of the following members; Chiemi Shepherd, Junko Takahama, Masahiro Yamazaki and Ami Akimoto. Although there are no members from Okinawa, the members have all been charmed by Okinawa and its music. They currently actively conduct activities in Melbourne, with the aim to share and convey to the people of Melbourne, the charms of Okinawa through music. Chiemi and Junko in particular since 2017 have become directors of the Kariyushi association in Australia and are also focusing on communicating the good integrity and value of Kariyushi wear (Okinawan shirts in the photo on the left) and goods. Chiemi also teaches Sanshin classes (Okinawa 3 stringed instrument) as part of the cultural course run at Japaneasy (Japanese Language School) twice a month.

Ichimadin has participated/performed in many events from 2010 until now, including Japan Cultural Festivals, Travel Expos, Conferences, Gala Dinners, Night Markets and many Charity concerts/events. They have also actively hosted events including Ichimadin Concert (2012), Sanshin Day (2016), Kariyushi Party(2017), Beautiful Sounds of Okinawa concert (2018), and in 2019 will host special Eisaa Workshops and "Fueenumai ~ The Winds of Okinawan Colours" Concert.
