WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Since the pandemic, quarantining positive patients is a means to reduce the transmission of virus. However, the mass volume of admissions requires an efficient data management. The Operations Room (Bilik Gerakan) in COVID-19 Quarantine centres use Microsoft Excel but updating is still being done manually, which requires copying and pasting into bed status spreadsheets and census spreadsheets. This method has contributed to a lot of errors.

WHAT HAVE WE PROPOSED?

We love developing administrative solutions for hospitals and healthcare centres which can be easily used and implemented. Our project for data management is the development of IBEDS: Integrated Bed Entry & Database System.

We developed an Excel spreadsheet template with formulas and conditional formattings. It requires the update of ONE masterlist which will subsequently automatically update the bed status and autogenerate the census.

Our aim is to:

(1) Reduce administrative burden and increase efficiency
(proven to reduce work of 5 hours to 5 minutes!)

(2) Ease persons-in-charge to instantly see bed occupancy and availability

(3) Ensure patient safety with swifter bed assignment

(4) Allow anyone to use it whether IT or non-IT based centre as Microsoft Excel can be readily used.

WHERE CAN IT BE IMPLEMENTED?

PKRC

COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre

PKRCS + QS

Private COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre with Quarantine Service

HOSPITAL

Departments converted to COVID-19 wards

WHERE HAS IT BEEN IMPLEMENTED?

  • PKRC I (capacity 300 beds)

  • PKRC G (capacity 1380 beds)

  • PKRC K (capacity 300 beds)

  • PKRCs & QS A (capacity 80 beds)

  • Medical Dept, Hospital P (capacity 180 beds)
