Shadow the Scientists
As an undergraduate student at UH Hilo, I got my first exposure to astronomy research as a part of the CfAO Akamai Summer Internship program. My internship mentor was Raja GuhaThakurta from the University of California, Santa Cruz, my work focused on characterizing the serendipitous observations made of distant galaxies in the DEEP2 Galaxy Redshift Survey. Most recently, Raja has begun hosting a Shadow the Scientist series where he has invited students to join him (virtually) as he conducts his Keck observations of galaxies including our home galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy.
If you are interested in joining a Shadowing event and getting a bird's eye view of the research taking place on Maunakea, please visit the Shadow the Scientists website.
