Bangladesh is among the most vulnerable countries to climate change impact. And almost every year suffer from major natural calamities which takes a big toll on the poor local people.
People in different regions suffer from different types of disasters including floods, drought, and salinity.
Drinkable water becomes scarce, the land becomes barren in the dry season. Farmers helplessly wait for rain, when the monsoon arrives rivers start overflowing and causing flash floods. People struggled to find shelters. It becomes harder to save their belongings and the livestock.
Meanwhile, in the coastal districts People face salinity problems, excessive saline water makes it impossible to do farming and fishery, these people suffer the worst blow of nature. Yet with courage, they stand their growth with help of local NGOs, they have eventually found innovative solutions.
In drought-prone regions, the sufferers have learned to produce vermin compost to make the ground fertile again. Who eventually raised, their harvest, people in the flood-affected regions have learned to raise plinths in clusters, which have provided safety from floods. They doubt have they started to cultivate vegetables and rear goats on the elevated land. In the saline-prone region, many have started to cultivate salinity tolerant crabs, people in the area also learned modern ways to harvest and treat drinkable water, these people now have sustainable sources of income and earn a better living. Their struggles have now eased.
On the starting of the organizational starting of Humanitarian Enhancement Aid for Resilient Transformation-HEART, I would like to extend my best wishes and heartfelt congratulations to all those directly or indirectly associated with this organization. After hundreds of years of oppressed exploitation, under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, I got freedom through a sea of blood and disgrace to millions of mothers and sisters. We stand tall today as an independent nation.
Leader of the country Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to build a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh by alleviating the sorrow of the people of Bangladesh from an oppressed subjugated nation. We believe that it is difficult for the government alone to conduct all activities properly. The rising sunrise by changing the destiny of the people of Bangladesh requires the combined efforts and cooperation of all. Since its inception, the members of HEART Bangladesh have been praised for their bravery and professionalism in meeting the various logical needs of the people of Bangladesh. The efforts of all the HEART families, the cooperation is not limited to the helpless, poor people. It has also succeeded in defending social values among people of all walks of life in the country.
I hope that in the days to come, the members of HEART will continue to work sincerely for the just needs of any common man of the country and play a role in building the 'Golden Bengal' of the dream of a non-communal, developed and prosperous nation. May all the arrangements of HEART be beautiful, successful and fruitful overall. May Bangladesh live forever.
