By the early 1960s they turned to the Mars series. The first six covers of the Mars series were illustrated by Roy Carnon. All the books published were paperback reprints (Previously published by Goulden) up to 1966 when they published the last two Tarzan books one Venus book (Includes 'Pirate Blood') and 3 Mars books not yet seen in the UK. In c1968 Four Square were taken over by The New English Library who dropped Carnon and employed Josh Kirby. By the 1970s they changed their cover illustrators again to Richard Clifton-Dey, Bruce Pennington, Ray Feibush and some unnamed artists. In 1978 they published a new editions of 'The Warlord of Mars' cover illustration by Joe Petagno and 'Carson of Venus' cover by Colin Andrew. This is would be the last Burroughs title they issued.

'In the 1970s, New English Library published the entire Mars and Venus books again with brand new cover art. Unfortunately NEL sadly did not give credit to almost all of the artists at the time of their publication. They did publish a SF monthly magazine where they did make some amends. Three covers in the Mars series remain uncredited. I recently had the opportunity to put it to Bruce Pennington to see if he could shed some light on their ownership but today I have been told he does not know. There have been suggestions that Bruno Elethoria painted Gods, Ray Feibush did Warlord, and Pat Owen did Synthetic Men, but none of these have been confirmed and therefore no credit can be given to them.'
