3. Paperbacks - Mark Goulden - Pellucidar & others

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the end of 1955 Mark Goulden had published two Pellucidar books as well as a number of out of series titles. James E McConnell was the cover artist for the two Pellucidar title the others are unknown but they were probably by McConnell as they show evidence of his style. Oddly, Goulden did not publish either 'At the Earths Core' or 'The Land that time Forgot' perhaps because Pluck - an English comic/magazine - reproduced 'At the Earth's Core' in 11 weekly instalments beginning 31st March 1923, concluding on 9th June, also Methuen issues a cheap reprint of 'The Land that time forgot' in 1937. There may well have been copyright issues as well.
