Resources for

LIBRARIES

Librarians are playing a key role in the effort to close the digital divide. The Institute of Museum and Library Services put libraries offering digital navigation on the map with a grant to the Salt Lake City Public Library to develop a replicable plan.  The library’s final report gives an overview of that precedent-setting project.  Libraries are duplicating elements of that pilot project, and these include deploying “navigators” who can give one-on-one and long-term assistance to residents who need sustained help. In addition, they are providing refurbished laptops or tablets to those without, and making sure that every household is connected to a high-speed wireline.
