Johan Backteman

Johan Backteman started Martial arts in end of 1979 in Shukokai Shitoryu with Tamas Weber until he met Soke Shogo Kuniba in 1985 in Stockholm and practiced Karate-do, Goshind-do, Kobu-do and Iai-do with him. This great master was nothing he had ever seen before and he studied all during many years about Kuniba's style and methods after.  Soke Kuniba died in 1993 because of stomach cancer and his Seishinkai was taken over by Kunio Tatsuno in Japan. Three years after William Price Shihan Price left Seshinkai and formed Chikubukai. In 1999 Kunibakai was formed by the youngest son of Shogo Kuniba-Kozo and Johan followed the Kuniba family and became Hombucho for Europe Kunibakai. He was the technical assistant of Kozo Kuniba around Europe in many camps. However, after years left Kunibakai and joined William Price who had the testamented role of Soke by Shogo Kuniba, priori to his death, Kuniba-ha Shito ryu and Kunibaryu Goshindo. The weapons arts followed by the Shihans in the USA and Kobayashi Kaicho in Japan. Johan Backteman has 6th dan in Motobu-ha Shitoryu from Soke Kuniba Kozo and 7th and 8th dans and Hanshi title in Kuniba-ha Shito Ryu and Kunibaryu Goshindo from Soke Price. He has 5th dan Kunibaryu Kobudo and Iaido from Price as well. Backteman has been member of National team of Sweden for both Kumite and Kata and even National coach of Kata for a period of 3 years. At the present he is the president Hombucho for Chikubukai Europe and top member Chikubukai International under Soke William Price.
