Assignment 2-Purchase A Computer

Purchase a Computer Task

Introduction

Imagine you have just graduated from high school and will be leaving for college in a few months. As a graduation present your parents are going to buy you a new computer to take with you to college! Your parents are going to let you choose the computer. Since this is such a large financial decision your parents want you to really think about your options.

You will research possible computer choices, weigh the pros and cons, and create a PowerPoint presentation that will persuade your parents to purchase the computer you have decided on.

Task

Purchasing a computer is a big decision. There are many things to take into consideration before you purchase a new computer. You and your partner will need to answer the following questions to help you narrow your search.

1. Do you want a desktop computer or a laptop computer?

2. For what purpose will you use the computer?

3. Should the computer be compatible with the computers at school?

4. Should the computer be a Mac or a PC?

Once you answer those questions and decide on the type of computer you want to purchase you need to decide on the following:

  • What type of software do you want on your computer?

  • What type of hardware do you want to include with your computer?

  • Where will you purchase the computer from?

  • Identify any hidden costs. What will this computer cost you?

  • Will you purchase an extended warranty or a service plan?

When you have all of your information compiled and have made a decision on which computer to purchase, you will create a PowerPoint presentation to show your parents. This presentation will let your parents know which computer you have decided on and why.
