What is the Committee of 10?

The Committee of 10 is a group of ten residents from the two districts that has been meeting since January 2021 to determine if reorganization of the districts is a good idea and to determine the best way to combine the two districts.

Who is on the Committee of 10?

The Committee of 10 consists of 5 residents from the Leland School District and 5 residents from the Somonauk School District. They are Janet Plote, Claire Anderson, Andy Wold, Jay Anderson, Casey Schnitz, Mike Short, Norm Johnson, Reed Martin, Jen Kulton, and Tom Hohmann.


How was the Committee of 10 chosen?

The Committee of 10 members were chosen based on the desire to have representation from both communities and to have a variety of interests represented. The Committee of 10 includes both long-time and new residents of the communities, a teacher, business owners, parents of students ranging from elementary school to high school, and others.


What other people were involved in the Committee of 10’s work?

The Committee of 10 divided the work into subcommittees, each of which was chaired by a Committee of 10 member. The subcommittees are composed of people with a strong interest or expertise in the subcommittee’s work and other Board of Education members.
