Objective: To solve Maxwell's equations to calculate the force fields in a linear electromagnetic stirrer in Ansys Fluent

As a part of my undergraduate thesis, I implemented user defined functions (UDF) and user defined scalar transport equation (UDS) in Ansys Fluent to solve Maxwell equations. The code validated against standard electromagnetic field problems. The model was then extended to compute force fields in a linear electromagnetic stirrer.

Objective: To simulate melting and solidification of select salts to find the charging and discharging time.

Worked on Latent Heat Thermal Energy storage system. To study the viability osalts, implemented a User Defined function (UDF) in FLUENT commercial code to simulate thmelting and solidification of salts. Variations o thermophysical properties with temperature were taken into account to make the simulation more realistic.

Learnt the basics of heat exchanger and the design and manufacturing considerations involved. I was assigned to three departments – Quality, Design and Production 


  •  Inspect different components , perform Millipore test to check chemical composition, used Universal testing machine to check tensile strength and fatigue testing rig to check number of cycles for failure.
  • Exposed to various design principles, standards and design as an iterative process. Testing of prototype in wind tunnel to calculate the efficiency.
  • Production planning as a tool to improve the quality and reduce the time taken to manufacture a product. Learnt the concepts of Inventory management, process and flow charts.
