Opener
Did you know that God tells us a lot about eagles in the
Bible?
Eagles are very fast flying birds (Job 9:26). They build very large nests way high up in mountains or in the
tip-tip-top of very tall trees (Job 39:27). The mommy eagle will lay 2-3 eggs. Then, the mommy and daddy
eagles will take turns incubating, or sitting on the eggs to keep them warm
until they hatch. When the baby eagles hatch, they need a lot of care. Mommy
and daddy eagle feed and protect the baby. The Bible also tells us that God
will take care of us just “as an
eagle stirs up her nest, flutters over her young, spreads abroad her wings,
takes them [and] bears them on her wings” (Deuteronomy 32:11).

Nature Notes
When the young eagles are ready to learn to fly, something
very interesting happens. They practice fluttering their large wings over and
over, day after day. Then, one day, they get pushed out of the nest! Down,
down, down the young eagle falls. He flaps his wings, but he’s not able to
fly yet! Will he hit the ground? Oh, no. Mommy and daddy eagle are watching.
Mommy eagle will swoop down swiftly. She will fly underneath the young eagle
and catch him on her back. The young eagle will grab onto his mommy with his
strong feet, or talons, and ride on her back as she flies to the nest.
The young eagle must still learn how to fly. So, guess
what? Again, he’ll get pushed out of the nest! He’ll flap his wings, but if
he still can’t fly, daddy eagle will swoop down swiftly, fly underneath the
young eagle and catch him. Again, the young eagle will grab onto his daddy
with his feet, and ride to the nest.
This will happen over and over. Each time, the young
eagle’s wings get stronger and stronger. Before long, the young eagle will be
flying high, all by himself.

Spiritual
Connection
In the Bible, God said: “Ye have seen… how I bare you on eagles’
wings, and brought you unto myself.” (Exodus 19:4).
This verse is talking about how God watches over us and
takes care of us. How does God take care of you? (Provide sufficient time for answers.)
Well listen, after God said “Ye
have seen… how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself,” God
continues talking and says: “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for
all the earth is mine” (Exodus 19:5).
Wow… God says we are a treasure to Him! That means we are
very special to Him. He wants to keep us close to Him. Jesus has brought us
close to Him. Now, if we will obey His Ten Commandments, which are the laws
of love and happiness, He will keep us close to Him; we will be a peculiar
treasure to Him. This is His promise; His commitment.

Closure
Do you think God can take care of you? Sure He can!
Has God asked us to obey His laws of love and happiness?
Yes, He has.
Do you think God wants you to follow His laws of love and
happiness? Yes, He does.
Do you want to be obedient to the God of Heaven, and
promise to keep His laws of love and happiness?
Let’s kneel down and promise God that we will do all that
He asks us to do. Let’s commit ourselves to Jesus.
