A now quiet town nestled in the lovely mountains of Clinton County in the Pennsylvania Wilds and bisected by the West Branch of the Susquehanna, Renovo takes its name from a word meaning "To Renew" because of its rich history as the go-to place for repairing steam engines. The Philadelphia and Erie (P&E) Railroad built Renovo and its railroad shops starting in 1862. Over the years with the decline of the railroads, Renovo is now subdued from its heyday, but you will enjoy your easy walk on street shoulders and sidewalks through this fairly flat town with beautiful views of the mountains and river. Will you see some of the bald eagles that call the river their home? You may choose to time your walk for autumn, as Renovo is home of the "Flaming Foliage Festival" October 12-14, 2018. (Perhaps avoid the Festival weekend if you don't want to share the views and the sidewalks with so many other visitors.) Take a walk in this sweet town in Clinton County PA, and study the vestiges of Pennsylvania's railroad history and the people who once lived here!
