We are a club based in York, Pennsylvania, under the auspices of the American Volkssport Association (AVA) and the Keystone State Volkssport Association (KSVA). We host non-competitive walking, biking, and swimming events in the area.

Saturday, April 27: Memorial service honoring our late President, Pam Copenhaver, at St Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1502 4th Ave, York PA. The visitation will start at 10 am and the service at 11.

Saturday, May 4: Ray Rudacille Memorial Walk. Start between 9 am and 12 noon at Hanover Junction Station on the York County Heritage Rail Trail, 2433 Seven Valleys Rd, Hanover Junction PA. Call Jane Snurr at 717-525-0216 for more info. (If no answer, leave a voicemail.)*

SATURDAY WALKS 2024

The Wanderers have group walks to promote our Year-Round Events, usually on the first Saturday of the month unless there is a holiday or other event on or near the scheduled date, or in case of inclement weather. In that case we usually postpone the walk to the second or subsequent Saturday of the month. Arrive anytime between 9 am and 12 pm. Meet up and walk with others or go it alone, whichever you prefer. INAUGURAL DEB CHOINIERE MEMORIAL WALK

On March 4, 2023, we honored Deb, our former treasurer, longtime member, and friend, with this cake, shared by the Wanderers on the day of the inaugural walk named for her almost exactly one year after her passing on the trail in Gettysburg PA.

This photo, taken on November 21, 2021, is representative of the countless times geocacher Deb, with husband Keith and their two loyal companions, walked the trails with their fellow Wanderers starting in 1994. Deb will be missed by all.

COMMENDABLE SERVICE AWARD

President Pam Copenhaver Honored by AVA

At the Wanderers' monthly club meeting at John Rudy Park on September 21, 2022, the Wanderers' President, Pam Copenhaver, was presented with a Commendable Service Award by the AVA. Pam was in charge of the Silent Auction at the AVA's 2022 Atlantic Region Conference in Plymouth Meeting PA. The auction raised over $2500 for the Keystone State Volkssport Association.

INAUGURAL BRENDA WEIRICH MEMORIAL WALK

On May 14, 2022, we honored our former president, the late Brenda Weirich, with this cake, shared by the Wanderers on the day of the inaugural walk named for her, through Manchester and Mount Wolf townships in York County PA. (See Year-Round Event above.)

NORMANDIE RIDGE - HAPPY TRAILS NATURE PARK

Bench Dedicated to Lemar & Ron Bowers

Walking in Happy Trails Nature Park, adjacent to Normandie Ridge in West Manchester, York County, on October 17, 2021, we came upon the bench dedicated to Lemar and Ron Bowers, members of the Wanderers for many years. Lemar would always meet you at the head of the trail and help register you for the day or for walking years after. Many warm memories of those years gone by!

George Conrad & Joseph Strausbaugh Bench Dedication Ceremony

A small ceremony was held in honor of George Conrad and Joe Strausbaugh dedicating a bench that was placed on the rail trail in their memory. Thank you to everyone that participated in the ceremony.

On August 17, 2022, Pat Strausbaugh was made an Honorary Lifetime Member of the York White Rose Wanderers. A member since 1984, Pat was one of our first members and helped get the club started. She was our membership coordinator for years, helped develop trails, and served the club in so many other capacities over the years, with help from her late husband Joe, to make this club an outstanding one.
