Belts in TKD Schools and Promotion Time

Different Taekwondo Schools (WTF) have extra belts and some have less. This page also tells you how much time you should take for training in your current belt.
Note: Again, I am going to go through my belts (site owner).
  • White Belt (3 months)
  • Yellow Belt (3 months)
  • Green Belt (3 months)
  • Blue Belt (3 months)
THE BELTS FROM White TO Blue Belt TAKE 1 YEAR.
  • Red Belt (3 months)
  • Senior Red Belt (3 months) [I personally recommend you taking 4 months for this because this is one belt away from black belt and you should be training a lot and practicing.]
  • Black Belt (4 months) [I personally recommend you taking at least a year (12 months) of training because you want your black belt to mean something. You will have earned it. Remember, your goal should be getting better in martial art, not the color of the belt]
THESE BELTS TAKE 10 MONTHS AND 2 YEARS IF YOU FOLLOW MY RECOMMENDATIONS.
  • 1st Poom Black Belt - 2nd Poom Black Belt (1 year)
  • 2nd Poom Black Belt - 3rd Poom Black Belt (2 years)
  • 3rd Poom Black Belt - 4th Poom Black Belt (3 years)
THIS POOM PROCESS TAKES A TOTAL OF 6 YEARS.

NOW THE BLACK BELT DEGREES (DANS) COME IN.
  • 1st Dan Black Belt - 2nd Dan Black Belt (1 year)
  • 2nd Dan Black Belt - 3rd Dan Black Belt (2 years)
  • 3rd Dan Black Belt - 4th Dan Black Belt (3 years)
  • 4th Dan Black Belt - 5th Dan Black Belt (4 years)
  • 5th Dan Black Belt - 6th Dan Black Belt (5 years)
  • 6th Dan Black Belt - 7th Dan Black Belt (6 years)
  • 7th Dan Black Belt - 8th Dan Black Belt (7 years)
  • 8th Dan Black Belt - 9th Dan Black Belt (8 years)
  • 9th Dan Black Belt - 10th Dan Black Belt (9 years)
IF YOU TAKE ALL BELT TEST, YOUR TOTAL EXPERIENCE WILL BE OF 45 YEARS IN THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF BLACK BELTS.
