Place in History - "Hacksaw" Butch Reed was the second black golden boy in Bill Watts' Mid-South wrestling, however he followed someone so colorful and over that he was almost destined to fail. Reed was a tremendous physical specimen and had various tools that the Junkyard Dog did not, but he lacked it where it matters - the charisma. Reed enjoyed a strong push in Mid-South as JYD's partner, rival and top heel in the company. After leaving the company, Reed was never good enough and pushed well enough to do anything outside of the midcard. The WWF put him in Slick's stable and aside from dying his hair didn't touch him at all. In WCW, he was paired with Ron Simmons and put under hoods as Doom, which ended up being the last high-level run of Reed's career. He's worked independents up through the 90s and the Butch Reed who Bill Watts put so much faith in had his legacy spoiled by never being used right in the later years of his wrestling career.
