Place in History - Jimmy Garvin is one of those wrestlers whose name he built during the territorial days was largely forgotten due to his final years in a lame role in the big time. He got his first break managing his "brother" Terry Garvin. Eventually, he found his way into the ring and Jimmy Garvin began working his way around for seasoning. He was a bland undercard babyface who wasn't really getting anywhere when he transformed himself. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin came along as a brash loud-mouth with a beautiful blonde on his arm and they were involved in some major programs with Kerry Von Erich and Dusty Rhodes. He had one valet in Florida, then his cousin, as Sunshine in Texas, then finally his real-life wife Patti, known as Precious and it always got major heel heat. After that run, Garvin became the replacement of Buddy Roberts in the Freebirds. As Jimmy "Jam," he spent his last few years in WCW teaming with Michael Hayes as a sad version of a once great team. While many might remember him for this brief and forgettable period, Jimmy Garvin's role in the 80s as something of a modern day Gorgeous George is far more significant and provided some classic battles.
