Coronavirus (Covid 19)

The outbreak of the coronavius and its development into a pandemic is affecting everyone’s lives and it is appears that it will be with us for some time.

The Government has released updated guidelines. As ever, it is important to use official Government advice to inform any actions or decisions, given the prevalence of unreliable news sources.

On Monday 11th May 2020 the government released ‘Our plan to rebuild: the UK Government’s COVID-19 recovery strategy’. This gives more detail of new government guidelines that come into effect from Wednesday 13th May.

Advice to local councils remains unaltered at this time. In particular its worth highlighting that councils should not be holding meetings in person and our AGM scheduled for 28th May has been postponed.

Government advice on trying to stop the spread and deal with its consequences is changes on a daily basis. The main thrust of current advice is for social isolation to avoid the spread of the disease. Large scale gatherings have been banned or postponed. People are being urged not to go to pubs and clubs and to avoid contact with others unless essential. essential basically means going to work if you cannot work from home and food shopping. In the coming days it has been suggested that people over 70 years of age will be asked to self isolate and not leave their homes for their best safety and that of others.

If you need information on the virus please make sure you look at official, reputable websites for information. We suggest the following:
