In grade 9, you explored the theme of personal identity or discovering a sense of self. We considered many questions. How do you cope with challenge and change? What happens when relationships break down? How do you know who your friends are? What personal connection do you make with the world?

In this course, we will consider this idea through the literary theory lens of the hero's journey. What can we learn about ourselves and what we may have to offer our community by understanding the hero journey monomyth? How can storytelling help us discover the hero within all of us?

What do you need to do to be successful?

Importantly, you need to be reading A LOT! It is amazing how much we can learn about ourselves and the people in our lives by following the lives of the characters we read about.

And just as important is writing. When someone asks you, 'What do you think about this?' and you haven't a clue, consider writing about the topic. Writing is thinking.

We will also continue to grow our modern learning skills.

We need to know what inspires us, so we can think critically, collaborate, create, and act with purpose. This is the process of learning, and this can be challenging. My hope is that we can embrace this challenge together!
