“Aridaí Herrera is a Civil Engineer working in Austin, Texas as a Regional Manager for the Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Group of the Global Water and Wastewater Company OVIVO. He holds an academic appointment as a Research Affiliate at the Master of Engineering (MEng.) Program at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He serves as a thesis advisor to MEng. Graduate Engineering students and is responsible for identifying, coordinating and directing along with Dr. Eric Adams, new applied research projects throughout Latin America. His responsibilities also include the development of strategic alliances with governmental agencies, municipal authorities, academia, and industry. His research and professional experience are in drinking water supply and treatment systems in developing nations, wastewater treatment and solid waste management, and sustainable development. His passion is to promote education opportunities through academic collaboration and partnerships that result in capacity building. Mr. Herrera holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a MS in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.”
