W.C. Akins H.S. Seniors, Thanh Ha, Eliseo Trevino and Yinebeb Zenaw as well as Junior, John Ivey, visit the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Physics' Machine Shop.
Department of Physics The students, first, met with Mr. Allan L. Schroeder, Electronic/Mechanical Technician Supervisor and Mr. Herb Boehl, Physics Machine Shop Tech Staff Assistant V to discuss the FIRST Robotics competition and their needs with regards to milling their student engineered robotic components.
After speaking with Mr. Schroeder and Mr. Boehl, the students then, briefly, toured the University of Texas at Austin 's Physics Department's Texas Petawatt Laser. University of Texas student, Franke Aymond, did an excellent job leading the tour as she demonstrated her command of the project and its profound impact on current research.
Finally, it was time to get down to business. Mr. Schroeder and Mr. Boehl, both, provided an immeasurable experience by displaying a genuine interest in assisting our students to complete their robot with professional guidance and demonstrations of how the shop's CNC machines would be utilized to manufacture their student engineered robotic components.
