Watercolour Abstracts ? - Home

In your appreciation of this work, keep in mind both the limited time invested in creating these images, and the actual size of the image, as spending more time would create at least a more accurate drawing, and a larger painting is capable of greater detail.

I can do better . . .

I can still do better . . .

I find my brushwork, including large washes, and thinking while painting are improving greatly by doing these abstracts.

I consider this one to be much better, yet I can still do better . . .

Can you see the improvement ?

2013-10-24 . . . The Spirit of One - INCOMPLETE

Even though all the shapes are round, there is a lot of perspective in this.

This was done in two three hour sessions totaling less than six hours. There are some real problems, but I am pleased with where this is heading. For the next one I do, which will pretty much be the same as this, I will draw it out for three hours, and then that will make it possible to paint in three hours.

These abstracts are really forcing me to think as I paint, and I expect my skills to improve for having done these.

These abstracts are developing an understanding of the Spirit of One from the HESUS JOY CHRIST animation.

This one is definitely the best yet !!

Yet I can still do better. I miss counted in this one. And I can keep it all to twelves, rather than latitudinal eights and longitudinal twelves.

You can figure it out !

This painting has a painted area of 10-1/4" x 13-1/4" and was completed in two three hours sessions amounting to about four hours in total.

An experienced artist from the Burlington Art Centre who saw me working on this commented that it " . . . is like the intersection of two worlds." I was really pleased with that comment as I only presented this painting as an " abstract ".

As well, I . . . .

. . . . . can practice on the place mats at the Friday Community Dinner at Wellington Square United Church !

Yet I can still do better. I kept it all to twelves, rather than latitudinal eights and longitudinal twelves, but I double the longitudinal count to 24.
