This Very Day

This page has become dated.
I suspect, however, that Internet searches
conducted now would produce similar results
(although Waldorf schools, already secretive,
may learn to be even more guarded).
I invite you to make the experiment.

Lest there be any doubt that Waldorf and Steiner schools today still embrace the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, here’s what turned up today during a very quick dash around the Internet, visiting Waldorf websites. (Elapsed time: perhaps 30 minutes; a quick and very incomplete survey. If you looked longer, you would doubtless find much more.)

If you have begun to understand Anthroposophical jargon, you will find certain indicators beyond the mere pledge of allegiance to Steiner. Look for words and phrases such as the following (all of which have special meanings within the Waldorf/Anthroposophical community):

"spiritual phenomena"

"spiritual nature"

"spiritual principles"

"soul and spirit"

"whole child"

"imagination"

"intuition"

"inspiration"

"holistic"

"developmental stages"

"destiny" (aka karma)

"explained by Steiner"

"inspired by Steiner"

"Steiner's understanding"

"genius"

and the like.

Note, too, that the statements I quote here are reasonably candid. Far too often, Waldorf schools that are deeply devoted to Steiner and his occult teachings deny it to outsiders — meaning you.
