Watercolour Self Portraits 2013

All these watercolour self portraits are painted with Winsor & Newton Artist's Watercolour Paint on Arches 140lb. Hot Press 9"x12" watercolour paper. They all have a painted area of 7.25" x 9.25" so that they may be nicely framed in a standard 8"x10" mat. With few exceptions, they are completed entirely within 3 hours from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Thursday afternoons.

These are all done from photographs that have been printed out to at least 8"x10", since I did not want to continue painting a mirror image from life, with my face constantly directed at the viewer through the mirror.

In your appreciation of this work, keep in mind both the limited time invested in creating these images, and the actual size of the image, as spending more time would create at least a more accurate drawing, and a larger painting is capable of greater detail.
