Thanks for all the info. I am/ have been a commuting cyclist and support most of what you imply you want to happen from your questions. I was very disappointed that Stafford St in Timaru was not closed tom traffic years ago when the opportunity came up. I'm a member of the DHB in S. Canterbury and hope to continue: I hope we'll have more liaison with the council this time and will be able to use the opportunities to lobby on behalf of bike friendly byelaws etc.

I'll try to look at the links you sent in due course.
