Lyttelton/Mt Herbert Community Board

I'm intrigued by the Copenhagen story. I fondly remember some recent cycling in Holland, where bikes are respected in planning and in law.

I've been on the Banks Peninsula Council and then Lyttelton community board since 2004. Our BPDC commissioned and adopted a cycling strategy and the Board wants to continue this impetus. We've been lobbying for buses to take bikes through the road tunnel. Also looking at a bike taxi arrangement. This is a priority for me for the next term.

Also we've advocated for cycle and pedestrian-friendly road planning in the town streets and harbour roads. Linking the city to the peninsula for bikes is the key,
