Allan Henrique Félix de Melo

Allan Henrique Félix de Mélo has a bachelor's degree in Food Engineering (2016) from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE/UAG) and a Master's degree in Food Engineering (2019) from the Faculty of Food Engineering (UNICAMP).

Allan is currently a PhD student in Food Engineering (UNICAMP) supervised by Dr. Rosana Goldbeck. His research interest is in Yeast and Bioprocess Improvement for the production of Bioethanol and Unicellular Protein.

Danielle Matias Rodrigues

Danielle is currently doing a PhD in Bioenergy under the supervision of Dr. Rosana Goldbeck. Her research is concerned with the production of bacterial nanocellulose from agricultural and food waste.

Danielle is a co-founder of B2MO Tecnologia & Sustentabilidade, a biotechnology startup in the area of conversion and treatment of waste through electrochemical and biotechnological platforms.

Ederson Guilherme

Ederson, is currently a PhD Student at Unicamp, and is supervised by Dr. Marcus Bruno Soares Forte. His work focuses on the strategies for the use and recovery of ionic liquids during the pre-treatment of lignocellulosic biomass, and for lignin valorisation.

Ederson have a bachelor's degree in Food Engineering (2016) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ICA-UFMG) and a Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences (2019) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ICA-UFMG).

Igor Severo

Igor is currently a PhD Student in Food Engineering with Dr. Marcus Bruno Soares Forte. His preliminary thesis subject is biomass pretreatment with ionic liquids.

Igor has an undergraduate degree in Biochemical Engineering (2015) from Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) and a master’s degree in Food Science and Engineering (2018) from the same university. During his bachelor's course he worked with microalgae cultivation for polyhydroxibutyrate (PHB) production and purification; for his master’s project he developed nanofiber membrane via electrospinning for microparticle filtration.

Francisco Lucas Chaves Almeida

Lucas is a Ph.D. student in the Bioenergy Program at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and is supervised by Dr. Marcus Forte. His research interest is focused on biofuels. He will study the immobilization of lipases for the production of biodiesel.

Lucas holds an undergraduate degree in Agroindustry (from the Federal University of Paraiba - 2018) and training as a Food Technician (from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte – 2014). During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research in several areas, with emphasis on fermentation and storage of alcoholic beverages.

Marcos Fellipe da Silva

Marcos is a PhD student in Food Engineering. He works on the production of potentially prebiotic oligosaccharides and fermentable sugars from enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass.

Marcos graduated in Food Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE / UAG) and conducted research at the Central de Laboratórios de Garanhuns (CENLAG), on a CNPq scholarship (Technological Development and Innovation - PIBITI). He has experience in enzyme production through fermentative processes, immobilization techniques, biochemical characterization, thermodynamics and applications of these in lignocellulosic hydrolysis.

Manoela Martins

Manoela is currently a PhD student in Food Engineering at the Faculty of Food Engineering (UNICAMP) with Prof. Rosana Goldbeck as her advisor. Her doctorate research will focus on the development of multifunctional chimeric enzymes to optimize the production of xylo-oligosaccharides from agroindustrial wastes.

Manoela has a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology Engineering from São Paulo State University (UNESP) and a Master's degree in Food Engineering (UNICAMP). Her undergraduate studies focused on microencapsulation of bioactive compounds. Her master's project involved the symbiotic microencapsulation of probiotics with xylo-oligosaccharides produced by hydrolysis of agro-industrial residues using recombinant enzymes expressed in Pichia. She also has experience with phage-display, and worked as research assistant at Biomanguinhos (Fiocruz, RJ) where she was responsible for the expression, selection and purification of antibodies fragments against Sars-CoV-2.

Maria Augusta de Carvalho Silvello

Guta is currently a PhD Student in Food Engineering with Dr. Rosana Goldbeck. Her work is focused on biomass hydrolysis.

Maria Augusta has an undergraduate degree in Biochemical Engineering (2015) from Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), with a sandwich period at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Spain, in 2012 and 2013, where she studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She finished her Master's Degree project in March 2018, at the Department of Food Engineering at University of Campinas (UNICAMP) with Dr. Rosana Goldbeck. Her thesis was titled: "Influence of ultrasound and supercritical CO2 treatment on cellulases activities".

Murilo Gonçalves de Oliveira

Murilo is a PhD student in food engineering under the supervision of Prof. Marcus Bruno Soares Forte. His research is about the purification of biomolecules using adsorption in fixed bed columns and enzymatic catalysis in membrane reactors.

Murilo holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). He is specialized in project management and work safety engineering from the Unicamp Extension School (Extecamp). In addition to the academic background, he has valuable professional experience having worked for ten years in prestigious multinational companies such as Ajinomoto, GEA, and Suzano.

Nicole Marasca

Nicole is a currently PhD student in the Bioenergy Program (Unicamp) supervised by Dr. Marcus Bruno Soares Forte. Her research focus is on the immobilisation of lipase enzyme in ionic liquids and in lignin matrix to produce biodiesel and bio-aroma esters.

Nicole has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering (2019) from Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) and a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences (2022) from the same University.

Suéllen Azambuja

Suéllen has a bachelors degree in Food Engineering from the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil). She finished her Masters Degree project in March 2016, at the Department of Food Engineering at University of Campinas (UNICAMP, São Paulo, Brazil) with Dr. Andreas Karoly Gombert as her advisor.

Suéllen is a currently a PhD student in Food Engineering (UNICAMP, Campinas, Brazil), she is supervised by Dr. Rosana Goldbeck, and she is studying butanol production by yeasts.

Master's Students

Ana Laura Romano Silva

Ana Laura is a Master's student in Food Engineering. She works with bioinformatics, studying the microbiome of sugarcane fermentation for ethanol production. The project is focused on bacterial metagenomics.


Ana Laura graduated in Food Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) and conducted research at the Laboratory of Extraction, Applied Thermodynamics and Equilibrium (EXTRAE/ FEA), and at the "Laboratório de Engenharia e Sistemas Complexos" (LESC/ FEQ) with a FAPESP scholarship. She has experience in simulation of distillation processes, including meta and parastillation, and with Molecular Dynamics, simulating proteins.

Carolina Teixeira Martins

Carolina has a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP). During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research in the medicinal chemistry field and had the opportunity of working as a research intern at a multinational Brazilian industry in a biotechnology laboratory, within the renewable chemicals sector.


Carolina is currently a Master's student in Biotechnology at USP under the supervision of Dr. Andreas K. Gombert. Aiming to contribute to a more adequate monitoring and better control of contamination in the Brazilian industrial alcoholic fermentation, her work is focused on the evaluation of techniques for simultaneous quantification of yeasts and bacteria.

Danielle Garcia Ribeiro

Danielle is a Master's student in food engineering at UNICAMP. She works with the synthesis of bioproducts and developing purification processes under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Forte.

Danielle holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from UFMA. In her undergraduate project she worked with the synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts for the production of biofuels.

Gabriel Bevilaqua

Gabriel is currently a Master's student in Food Engineering at UNICAMP. He works on the optimization of bioprocesses for the production of sugar alcohols from sugarcane bagasse under the supervision of Dr Marcus Forte.

Gabriel holds a bachelor's degree in Food Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), where he worked on projects related to fermentation processes, process optimization, food quality control, dairy technology and probiotic products.

Paulo Henrique Vieira Lima

Paulo graduated in Food Engineering from the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). During his studies, he gained experience in the production of hydrolases as well as in the fermentative capacity of yeasts.

Paulo is currently a master's student in Food Engineering and is supervised by Dr. Marcus Forte.

Undergraduate students

Alex Ai Sasaki

Alex is an undergraduate student in Food Engineering at University of Campinas and is supervised by Dr. Rosana Goldbeck. His research is about evaluation of the digestive capacity of termites submitted to diets rich in lignocellulose.

Bruna Maria De Oliveira Dorta

Bruna is an undergraduate student in Food Engineering at the State University of Campinas. At the moment, she works in research through scientific initiation with the theme: obtaining cello-oligosaccharides through enzymatic hydrolysis of bamboo culm, under the supervision of Dr. Rosana Goldbeck.

Giovanna Totti Bullo

Giovanna Totti Bullo is an undergraduate student in Chemical Engineering at University of Campinas and is supervised by Dr. Marcus Forte. Her research is concerned with the immobilization of lipases for the production of biodiesel.

Heitor Pacheco Inoue

Heitor is an undergraduate student in Biological Sciences at the State University of Campinas. Currently he works on butanol tolerance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae under the supervision of Dr. Rosana Goldbeck.

Ramon Azevedo

Ramon is an undergraduate student in Food Engineering at the State University of Campinas. Currently, he is involved in a scientific initiation project under Dr. Marcus Forte. He will work with researchers who study the enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane straw for the production of oligosaccharides.
