At Trappe Creek Organic Farm we rely on the efforts of our bees to help grow vegetables and produce our honey. Our local unprocessed honey - Pure and Natural - is produced and bottled right here on our organic farm. We can't say the it is certified organic since our bees travel many miles to collect the nectar they need to sustain the hive as well and provide us with a share. What we do say about our honey is that it is produced in a chemical free environment. We let our bees do what they do best - create their own safe and healthy environment. We sell our Eastern Shore Pure and Natural Honey right here on our farm. Check our "Whats Happening On Our Farm Now" page to see when you can buy some of this sweet delight. | We package our honey in glass jars which can be recycled, re-purposed or reused . Raw Honey is much more than just a sweetener. It has been used for centuries for healing and rejuvenation. Most of the honey sold in stores has been heated and pasteurized. This processing destroys many of the enzymes and beneficial antioxidants and phytonutrients that make raw honey so nutritious. Raw honey has not been treated with heat; it is often more buttery, solid and opaque than pasteurized honey and often contains "cappings," or small pieces of beeswax. It is completely left in its natural state and therefore contains pollen, enzymes, antioxidants and many other beneficial compounds that researchers are just beginning to learn about. Be sure not to give any honey, either raw or treated, to a child under the age of 12 months. |
