Standup4Tibet and Friends of Tenzin Namgyal Tethong San Francisco, would like to respond to TPR’s Nov. 21st editorial “A Call for Campaign Finance Transparency”. We welcome the suggestion from TPR editors for transparency in the election campaigns for the Chithue and Kalon Tripa elections. ![]() We know that candidate Kasur Tenzin Tethong participated in several debates in Switzerland, Portland, San Francisco and Bylakuppe before our first fund raising event. We believe his travel costs outside San Francisco were paid for by the Tibetan Youth Association of Europe, by the Portland Tibetan association (in part), and for the Delhi-Bylakuppe trip by personal donation. Recently, he has traveled to Minnesota, Madison, Portland, Seattle, Washington D.C., Toronto, Boston, and Amherst at the invitation of his supporters and with their support. Standup4Tibet and San Francisco Friends of Tenzin Tethong are happy to inform you that at our fund raising event on November 13th we raised $7,242.00 which we are happy to donate towards the travel costs of our candidate to help him visit many Tibetan settlements and communities in India and Nepal, and also for the distribution of a DVD we are making. All our donors have been thanked and acknowledged publicly at the event and proper receipts issued to them individually. We are happy to disclose that these funds we have raised. The donors expect nothing in return except the satisfaction that their contribution will help the best candidate secure the most important Kalon Tripa post. -Standup4Tibet and Friends of TNT San Francisco |
