StarTribune calling for the UN and US to do more for Tibet

Dear friends,

Today if you had picked up a copy of the Star Tribune or browsed its website, then you know that the editorial board has taken a position in calling for the UN and US to do more for Tibet. See the link here:

This is significant and unprecedented (in my opinion) and we hope that more mainstream media will adopt similar postion to put pressure on China to resolve the issue of Tibet rather than continue with more repressive policies. The timing of the editorial is crucial especially in light of more than 7 self immolations in the last 2 days in Tibet and now of the wide scale protests about which major news outlets like NPR, CNN, AP and BBC have reported today.

Its crucial that we Tibetans and the friends of the community stay informed about whats happening inside Tibet. I urge you to read the Star Tribune editorial. You can also write a letter to the editor to present your opinion on Tibet and why allowing media inside Tibet is important. You may also send the aritcle to the local and state representatives to inform them of the worsening situation. As you are aware two main slogans used by the self immolators and young protestors have been about the 'return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama" and "freedom in Tibet".
