The parish church of Pillaton was dedicated to St Odolph, a missionary and monk from the Netherlands, in 1259. It is a Grade 1 listed building. On 21 January 2013 a thunderbolt struck one of the pinnacles on the tower causing masonry to crash through the roof of the church. Fortunately the building has been fully repaired and was reopened in November 2013.
